Contest Brief
Added 10/19 - 15 hours left - I think by now it should be clear that there are 2 primary elements. The typography and the silhouette. I like the style of the "B" and "F" in #468. I do not like the "ry". Combining with another similar weight script might work. I also like the "PHOTO ART" in that design, but make it smaller. I like the silhouette in #471. There are many similar. The key differences are subtle. Do not try too combine silhouette with typography - they all failed. No breast from the front. No front female genitalia. The rest of #471 fails (sorry), but the silhouette is very good. The right amount of body, curves, breast, etc. Hope that helps. If you cannot spell my name right, it is not up to me to correct you. Pay attention to details. You MUST also provide the AI or other vector files. If you cannot, please do not submit entry.
Additional Guidance - As I review more and more entries, I've realized a couple things that may help. The name portion "B. Fry" needs 1) to look more like handwriting than traditional type and 2) has to be capitalized as I've indicated. An upper-case B and lower-case F doesn't work. I like the inclusion of a figure, but it needs to be subtle and minimal in style. It definitely should not dominate the logo. Black & white only. No other colors. I hope these comments are helpful.
Additional Guidance added 10/16 - I like the submissions that combine the minimal line art and signature typography. ** Please see additional sample files I've added to provide better direction. (Captures 1-6 are line art figure samples, 7-9 are signature styles.) ** The line art should be minimal, but still enough to be immediately recognizable for what it is. The signature more stylized. Hope this helps. I will evaluate additional entries ASAP. Thank you for your participation.
Clarification added 10/15 - The name should be "B. Fry Photo Art". Photo Art being 2 words. If you cannot include the correct words or spelling of the name, please don't waste your time or mine.
I am a photographer. More specifically, I am an artist and photography is the medium with which I work. I need a modern logo that represents the brand image that I am trying to project. My work is predominantly nude females in black and white images. I would like a logo that conveys that to the extent practicable. It should focus on the artistic aspect of the work, not the medium. In other words, I don't want a picture of a camera. I'm thinking that it shows the female figure and hints at the nudity aspect, but again in an artistic way. It SHOULD NOT lead the viewer to think of "glamour", "fetish", "erotic" or "pornographic" imagery. You can see the style of photography that I do and like at Instagram @bf.photoart. My website is under construction, but will be at bfryphotoart.com. Artist identification and name recognition is an important aspect, so I would not be opposed to "B. Fry" being used or even the central element. For the most part, I like the "Signature" style logos, but I want it to lead the viewer a little more into the "nude female black & white photography" direction, not leave them wondering what B.Fry does. Script used for "B.Fry" should be artistic, but still readable. If the viewer is asking, "What does that say," then we've failed. Other elements should be on the minimalist end of the spectrum. I like minimalistic, figurative line art. It should hint at the female figure, not contain the "whole trucker mud-flap naked chick silhouette." A large part of my target audience is female, so female viewers should feel "celebrated", not objectified. Please let me know if I can clarify any aspect of what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance for your contribution. In the end, I am looking for both raster and vector files that are easily converted and look good as black on white and the reverse.
