Thanks everyone for helping to bring my new project to life. Your input was greatly appreciated. I shared the project with quite a few people too who were impressed with the standard and I suspect more projects will be heading this way.

    Thanks again.

Got it down to 13 designs from 7 designers - logotrak, naashthebest, Ferrignoadv, pinky, dyv, twindesigner, rahulvyas12 and promop. Embarking on the final cull.

@ eeshu - I don't think it's so clear that the best work always wins. One tries to pick the best but best is tricky to define with creative work. I definitely know I've rejected some nice work that's for sure. I've rejected some pretty poor work too of course..standard is very variable.

4 designers, 5 designs. Cycling home now. Tested it internally in the office and everyone liked different ones. Sigh.

I'm curious. Hypothetically would you prefer
    a) to have one winner who gets the whole prize
    OR
    b) to have the prize split proportionately between those designers who contributed to the winning design*

(* assuming there was a mechanism for determining this level of contribution to the winning design...)

Last day of the contest. There's some very nice work here. Difficult to pick a winner (and a bit impractical given the public nature of the designs and how good ideas from one designer naturally get absorbed by others).
What I'll be trying to do is get a shortlist which I'll then test using a short survey. I'll then pick the winner based on survey results plus the body of work of the designer as opposed to simply picking one nice design.
It might take a couple of days to organise this and fully digest all the designs.

Sorry for cruelly rejecting so many nice designs. Thanks again everyone for contributing.

    Hi
this is a contest and there will be a single winner.......but if you want to choose more than one or appreciate more than one designer's work then you have to increase your prize money to be distributed.
this is my point of view.

    thanks

Mentioned this a few times. I would prefer to emphasise the middle "r" (or "R") in evalurater/evaluRater. I don't particularly want to emphasise "evalu" or "rater" as the business is not about sticking those two words together. Many designs however do do this and stick evalu on to rater. I must say often it looks fine but visually I'm more after emphasising the middle R (eg evaluRater) rather than EVALUrater or evaluRATER.

Just done a major cull, so one last note - I'm trying to only emphasise the middle r.

For example I'd like to see "evaluRater" as opposed to "EvaluRater" or "evaluRATER" or "EVALUrater". The middle R could be emphasised through being upper case when everything else is lower case or through being a different colour, or indeed in some other way..

The reason is because I want people to see "evaluater" within the logo as well as "evaluRater".

Many designers have gone for sticking Evalu onto Rater but whilst many of the designs are attractive and I've marked them highly because of that, design wise it's not exactly what I'm looking for.

I thought #120, #174, #176 and #366 were good and I liked them. I thought #175 was good but didn't like it so much. I thought there was a lot of creativity around but design is always very subjective. With 369 entries I've had to reject a lot of designs sadly..

Frog looks alright actually (not so keen on the typeface tho). The mastodon is maybe a bit too retro. Lion has gravitas..quite liked that but being brutal now and only kept the frog as I prefered that.

a good designer knows how to copy and thats how almost every artist out there does. a painter cant paint if an object isnt infront of him/her, we are not talking about abstract art here.
even companies pay the designers to copy other designs.now for logo designers choice is limited and competition is tough so they want to win by any means.i must say even if you copy other designs
do not post exactly the same and bring your some brain or imagination into it to make it even better. thats all guys...

Fair points. It's inevitable that one is influenced by good ideas and other's creativity. Ideally straight copies are avoided though. It's tricky to judge as the contest holder though when someone uses stock images that then appear in several designs - I did not realise people were posting designs which incorporated stock images.

For obvious reasons I guess I'd prefer a design with no stock images but I acknowledge illustrating an alligator is a big job..

Anyway - as mentioned the alligator is NOT essential..

      Thanks all..
