A competition for Samples of Character illustrations for a children's book

Contest Brief

I've written a rhyming picture book about a little girl (age 7) who gets lost in the forest and meets 1) a posh plump (rounded) fluffy English Rabbit - wearing a blue bowtie (and possibly a just a waist coat and specs;) (his name is Bartholomue and he's a friendly jovial guy) 2) A cheeky freindly Irish Monkey (wearing a bright green cap and possibly just a green waist coat .. also a friendly looking chap) 3) and a black and white stray kitten-cat with green eyes.

I am running a competition which involves submitting illustrations of the above characters (the Rabbit, Monkey, and Cat ) and additionally (A general forest scene) with the little girl (age 7) - she should be young, sweet, pretty and feminine.

SUBMISSIONS: Please submit drawings or sketches with some colour or / watercolour (depending on the medium you are drawing in) . I prefer hand drawn images rather than computer generated graphics.
You can either draw the Rabbit and the Monkey and the cat all in one detailed Forest scene if you prefer .. or you may submit different images of each character and a separate forest scene.
Please make these characters cute so that they appeal to children ... think fluffy, cute, nice freindly forest animals (much like my examples attached)
The basic story is about a young girl who gets lost in the woods and the Rabbit and the Monkey help to lead her home to her mum (the little cat is a stray cat that they meet along the way and the cat comes home with all of them)

PLEASE refer to my image attachments ... I would like a similar look and feel to these - fat animals, cute animals ... with happy looking faces .. this is a happy woodland scene .. nothing dark or sinister please!!!!!
So ... think Beatrix potter (benjamin bunny, peter rabbit) google some of those Beatrix potter books if you are stuck for ideas

These illustrations will be submitted with my "book pitch" to publishers and agents to give them an idea of the look and feel of the characters.

The illustrations I like best will be selected to win the prize.

Of course ... if my book ends up being accepted for publishing by a publisher and the publishing house likes my "sample character illustrations" that I select then further work might well be forthcoming for the competition winner in the form of full book illustration.

PLEASE NOTE : These illustrations attached are just to give you an example of the type of look and feel that I like ... The type of forest that I would envisage for my story is one similar to a British Woodland classic story book (ferns, flowers, over hanging trees, greenery, forest animals with bees and birds ) .. I felt I should put in some guidelines of the type of style becuase I DONT like the more modern airbrushed/ gaming style characters / animation style / computer graphic characters and I want happy looking animals please ... I like the hand drawn old fashioned style in colour. (Hope this helps to clarify)

Hi Razib, no I don't want an exact copy of the images attached ... the only reason I included them is so that illustrators can see the type of style / genre of images I like. So when you draw your characters that I've asked for (the bunny rabbit / monkey / cat and Rachel) there is at least a reference point to start from. I am not sure if freelancers will have time to draw a rough Woodland scene but it would be nice to look at that too.

Hi Razib, I attached 3 images to the description that showed the type of style of illustrations that I liked. Are you having trouble opening them?
