Contest Brief

General overview of project

• The purpose of this feature article in our professional blog at http://www.accentpros.com/blog/, is to educate our viewers on the distinct features of the Philadelphia accent and how this accent, once thought of highly specific to the Pennsylvania and the surrounding cities, has gradually shifted to become closer in tone to the accent found on the east coast of the U.S.

• The article should range between 400-600 words, functioning as a detailed summary of the following source article (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/02/opinion/sunday/the-sound-of-philadelphia-fades-out.html)

• At minimum, the article should highlight the information described in this section.

• Be sure to include source article's description of the Philadelphia accent used by Jeremy Renner's character in the movie "American Hustle" as being a stereotypical Hollywood version of the New York accent. Since the movie was released just last year and received Oscar attention, it will no doubt be of interest to our readers. Finally, emphasize that although the Philadelphia accent is changing and may not appear in an authentic form on television anymore, people from Philadelphia still feel a great sense of pride in their native accent. Pride in one's accent and manner of speech is a critical point we stress on the AccentPros blog.
