Bandlogo for a Reggae Band: Papa Dula Band

Contest Brief

Greetings!
We are a ReggaeBand from Germany, looking for a fresh Band-Logo which we will use on Facebook, Banners, Merchandise etc.
There was a pub in our town „Papa Dula) where we all met each other at Jamsessions, so the Name is

PAPA DULA BAND

The owner of that pub is also our singer and he wants to keep the pub-logo (1). And maybe that orangy color, though i think its way to strong :D

We already tried some things with it, but we are not satisfied with the logo in the end. Some examples are (2) and (3).

The singer always wanted to keep the pub vibe. I put a picture of the logo in the attached files, where it was used on the wall (4).
I did a quick and diryt logo once: its number 5. he liked it alot and wants that one... but im sure it can be edited to look better
.

So the Logo NEEDS to be PDB – for Papa Dula Band – and to somehow have the style of the old one (1) in it (meaning the PD), but with a "modern" style. Im no expert but maybe keep it more simple and minimalist than to bloat it up, you know what i mean.
1) Darker Colors might be better than bright ones.
2) maybe just an all-black logo, that would look great on different color-backgrounds (thinking of t-shirts in different colors with the logo on it)

Maybe one logo could be just PDB (for facebook etc) and a second version uses PDB but also has „Papa Dula Band“ written somewhere.

UPDATE: for new entries, please use the picture (5) as a starting point MAYBE. it shows how i used the old design quick and dirty. im sure it can be improved big time (colors/shape/fonts/overall appearance)

    So, meine Hausaufgaben habe ich gemacht. Ich habe euch verschiedene Tshirt Designs, ein Banner für den nächsten Auftritt und auch das Logo mit Kreis drumherum geschickt. Das sind alles nur Ideen. Man kann wie gesagt sooooo viel machen.... beliebige Farbkombinationen, brush oder Grunge Effekt, größer kleiner... what ever... Cheers

    UPDATE 2:
    some new entries used the "old" logo from file 5, and there some nice ideas!
    but please make sure to
    1) have the letters read PDB
    2) please dont use the "&" sign before BAND
    3) if you want to use colors, please make them warm and earthtone-like, and not bright.

    i will take my personal favorites to the bandmeeting tomorow evening and we will discuss and see which one are nice for all of us. i cant decide it on my own - but there are logos on here that are going in the right direction, thanks :)

    UPDATE:
    i put a new picture to the attached files. its number 5. thats how i did it qucik and dirty. singer likes it alot, though Im not so sure about it.. looks not so great.. maybe you can use that one as a starting point somehow..
