Contest Brief

Hi Designers!

I am looking for a good designer who can help me with the identity for my product and packaging for a new line of state of the art coatings for the super yacht industry.

This coating gives (super) yachts ultimate protection for up to 4 years. It makes yachts thats have been damaged by the elements like sun, saltwater, acid etc beautiful again. And makes them more resistant to these elements.

The coating industry has got a lot of boring packaging design. We want to stand out by having a more luxurious design for our Coating packaging.

Sailing the seas of the world is what the Dutch have always done. It’s why they grew to a worldwide super power in the 17 & 18th century. That’s also one of the reasons that The Netherlands is still a leader in the yacht industry. Be it in building small boats to award winning super yachts, delivering gold medalist competition sailors in the world or creating technology in the marine industry. The dutch know how to use knowledge and experience to combine them with the latest innovations and technologies in order to create the best products.



Overall look and feel: We want to see that old trusted feeling in a fresh feel in the identity of the company. It has to have a luxury feel to it. It has to look very strong and thrust worthy.


The Brand name is : Dutchman Protective Yacht Coatings

The Base colour of everything will be white, other colors that can be used for logo’s and design will be black, red and blue. Preferably black for fonts, and red for detailing, blue for drawings like in the examples. What is also like is some gold details. 

Also what i like is to play with the white as in mat of shine finish like in picture 1, the logo is spread out on the etiquette but than in gloss style to set it apart from the background.

What we expect from you is: 

- Designing the Logo

The logo has to be something like a shield of arms. In this shields there have to be references to the yachting industry. It has to be 1 colour. Something like the shield in picture 1.


- Designing the etiquette for on the canisters.

See canisters in picture 19 and 20.

The packaging has to be something like the product packaging in pictures 1, 2, 3, 4.
I like the white version as it gives a fresh feeling to the product.
I really like the wax stamp on there as well.
I also like the product design of picture 17 as well.


- Designing Packaging of the product

The products will be sold in big canisters of a liter or bigger for big use. This will be without a box.

The packaging of the product for smaller boats will be a apple kind of style box as a basis to give the total package.

This box wil be for the canister of 250 ml. See picture 19 for canister.

For the type of box see picture 18 and 21, (only look at the box , i don’t like designing and colors)

The artwork on the box should be something like in picture 17 and 14, 15. The style should be like these drawings to give it that older, authentic look, but the images in it should be a combination of old and new boats and atributes. So for example ships form the 17 century as in the drawings of picture 17 and ships from now a - days like picture 16, 22 and 23 .



- I need al these designs as realistic photos or renders to use on my website.

      Hi there Muhammad,

      the small canister of 250ml = 70 x 35 x 127 mm
      The Etiquette should go all around.

      The big canister of 1L = 114 x 58 x 186 mm
      The Etiquette should go all around

      And the box i don't have the deminsions yet. It has to fit the 250 ml canister and some sponges. Just like in the pictures of that other product box

      Make the contest sealed so that only you and the freelancer can see the entries. No freelancer can another's work, in case of copying each other. That's what Mahmoud means contest holder. kindly please.
