Contest Brief

Hi we are looking for a great illustrator who knows how to create a charismatic character for the company. We are an LMS web solution targeted at small and medium enterprises. We want an original character that is memorable and amicable, but still communicates reliability and trust. We had in mind a dog character, but we are open to suggestions. This specific illustration is meant for the main landing page, after this job we will ask for further illustrations (different poses/situations), so quotes on further changes is appreciated.

Also we were looking for a 'big' personality. All this of course is our particular need, and another company might want to portrait a different image.
Thank you for your effort we really appreciate it and best of lucks.

Now that you mention it he does resemble Topcat, I've seen the show too. Anyways, thank you for your feedback, it'll help me improve as an artist.

Hi Mahmoud, we love the idea of a rabbit, it's probably a good choice for us up there with a dog. Both the art and accesories are great too. We didn't choose it for two reasons, the lines on the drawing make it look a bit more conceptual, and for some reason it feels it's harder to fit it with our landing page design. The second reason is the presence it transmits through it's face and stance, it looks like a hardworking fellow but we feel a more 'powerful' attitude serves our purpose better. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, it's just a matter of the message we as a company want to transmit in particular. The rabbit looks intelectual and kind, and the chosen design looks strong and approachable, more like a salesman.
I hope this helps you in some way. Thank you for your effort and we wish you the best of lucks.

Again thank you all for your effort, if you want feedback on your particular design please let us know right here in the clarification board. Though please keep in mind we are not illustrators or designers, we can only give you feedback from our own perspective and particular needs.

    Thanks and good luck!

    continued from other post...

    - It has charisma. Possibly the hardest part to accomplish, since it is not easily describable. We believe it communicates openess, it is inviting people in, he really wants you to be there. Since this is the first thing potential clients see when arriving at the landing page it really must make them feel welcome, it has to get them to explore more.
    - It is particular. We believe it isn't alike other popular cartoon characters, people never like to see knockoffs, it puts them off.
    - It is rememberable. This is very important for us, even if you just glance at it, the character has to stick in people memory. Another hard thing to put a finger on, but we believe this character has that something that makes you remember.

Hello everyone the contest has finished and we have a winner, Yair Alejando with #37 . Thank you all for your effort, we really appreciate it. I want to write down the reasons we choose this design, so that it may help you in any way:

    - It is a dog, which while it's not obligatory it was our suggestion
    - It has a modern design, people can be easily put off by things they perceive as 'outdated', specially if you are an internet company like us. We loved many retro designs, but we think it might not work with the widest audience.
    - It has accesories relating to our practice, this character is dressed, which communicates office work. Our clients are of course office workers, and we want to be relatable.

Hi all, we have had amazing recent entries, they come closer to what we need as a corporate mascot and a great fit to our particular needs. Thank you all for your effort. While many recent entrants have submitted amazing works we would like to highlight #40 , #37 , and #30 . Please be aware that we will comment on individual entries only at the end of the contest, current comments go on the direction of transmitting what we expect for future contestants. On that vein we would like to comment on #30 , we think the character and the art is amazing, very lively and interesting, though the clothes communicate adventure. We as a company look to communicate seriousness, reliability, but with a touch of fun (hence why creating a charismatic mascot), although we do have games within our platform we think the theme of adventure would fit better with an LMS that communicates this as it's main message (some of our competitors do).

Hi everyone thank you to all the participants we have so far. Here is our landing page so can see our corporate identity: http://www.zegbits.com/ Please remember the target audience is adults (usually about 25 to 45 y/o), the character has to be one that you don't forget, and at the same time it should transmit seriousness and realiability (we know, it's a challenge). As an example of what we are trying to accomplish here please check hawkhost and hostgator, they use a character as part of their corporate identity. It doesn't have to have that art style, they are just examples. Please try to match the character to our own corporate identity. Also anything related to education/training or corporate as accesories is welcome.

Also #3 is a great character you can percieve he has great personality, though it goes in a different art direction. We are not set on an art style though we lean a bit more towards modern.

#15 and #6 are the closest right now to what we are looking for. Both have the art style and they are characters with personality. #15 is also distinguishable which is also desirable.

We love the name, the dog itself is very nice though we are looking a bit more on the vein of #6 , that art style with accesories that relate to corporate training, antopomorphizing is good also.
