Contest Brief

Our consulting firm is looking for fresh ideas from those interested in working with Microsoft Visio. We expect to award a small experimental design project to multiple (2-4) talented designers. We plan a second paid round to refine the designs discovered in the first/experimental round. We hope that the best designers found in the second round will work with us in a long-term relationship in the future.

We are a small technology consulting firm. We have a client for which we have built a new and complex software application that is hosted on multiple servers in different locations. We want to use a beautiful diagram to communicate and document 3 server environments (Production, QA**, Development). Within each of these environments, 2 to 4 computers/devices exist.

Reference Assets:
• A pdf of a hand-drawn wireframe that contains the servers and devices to be presented in your Visio diagram

Criteria for Selection of Designers:
1. The top 2 to 4 designers who have advanced diagrams in their public portfolio will be chosen for this paid experiment.
2. Designers in the experimental round will be selected based upon how well they have used Visio to convey our brand. In other words, a beautiful design is more important than an accurate diagram. We will fix any inaccuracies during the subsequent round.
3. The top 1 or 2 designs that occur from one of the design experiments will be asked to refine their design during an additional paid project.

Expectations of the experiment:
• Deliverables must be a Visio file.
• Designs are limited to one page (8-1/2 x 11 in).
• Each computer diagramed in the document must include the IP address, Operating System, primary service purpose, and cloud environment name. Each of these details will be provided to selected designers.
• Designs must incorporate our logo (will be provided to you).
• Designs must incorporate our client's logo (also to be provided to you).
• Designs should follow our corporate Branding Guide documents (will be provided to accepted designers)
• Designs may include a "title block" which provides diagram details (i.e., client name, revision number, published date)***
