Contest Brief

PLEASE NOTE: if you do not submit all the items (Social Media (Twitter & FB Page), Poster, Book Cover 2D and 3D) I will reject your submission.

I am writing an urban self-help book called side Piece (e-book and print) and I need a very professional book Design for a print cover, and also for the e-book. The title of the book is: DIME PIECE. The subtitle is: Every Mans Weakness. One of the other phrases I want on the cover in smaller print would be: He’s with you but he loves her. However, I am flexible on the final sentence being included on this book. This book needs to be designed on the front, back, and spine. You also need to provide a similar e-book cover.

The book will be very provocative and will be focused on the constant issue of men having a woman on the side (home wrecker, mistress, concubine, tramp, girlfriend, ect...) The cover needs to be very edgy, controversial and to the sexy. I will be using your work for the final commercial release. The audience for this book will be 18-15 and mostly African American women (the hip-hop generation). Please place yourself in the shoes of a woman who has just found out her husband has cheated on her with a “side piece” for the last three years of their three-year marriage. I know it sucks, but that is the audience for this book. My goal is to provide the reader with a playbook that tells everything they need to know about a “side Piece”. This book should also be marketable to men who want to know more about a “side Piece”. Yeah there will be some, but who am I to judge? I have no problem with this being graphic or having humor as it will make the book more interesting.

Book Cover Details:

I am not a designer so I need you to come up with some ideas based on the topic of the book. The book is an edgy self-help book. The person who enters this contest must be a designer with experience designing books. Once again I do not have an eye for design but I know what a good book cover looks like. This book cover is very important as it will sell my book. When you turn in your entries I would like to see 2-D and 3-D versions of this book on the same entry.

Poster details:

In addition to making the book cover you will also make a poster that will be used to market the book, that I will use to advertise. This poster needs to be capable of enlargement so I can utilize it to advertise properly.

Social media graphics:

The final thing is social media graphics for, Instagram, twitter, Facebook, Google plus, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. If there are some that I missed that you have the capability of making please do them as well, and that will be a plus on my decision. These should be rather easy since they are going to match the cover of the book for the most part but use your creativity.

If you decide to use custom graphics, or photos, please do not violate anybody's intellectual rights, nor should you use any copyrighted material as this book will be released commercially.

Graphics and colors

Some of the colors that I prefer are red, white and black, however as a graphic designer like you to come up with various ideas because once again I am not a designer. Use your best judgment and creativity. I just want to cover to stand out, pop, and be very effective at grabbing the attention of potential buyers.

Delivery

Once you've completed this project, I will need all original source files i.e., PSD, Illustrator, ect., associated with this project. The files will be needed for each of the components that you create (poster, covers, and social media). The final conversion of this needs to be applicable for Amazon books, traditional printing, and any other popular book formatting standard.

    hi, its really interesting contest, i would love to participate... have a question tho: When you say 3d version of the book, are you talking about full-3d-render object (that you can grab and move and turn around :)) or you mean like picture of a book in perspective with cover design applyed to it? It is important because if you need 3d object, that narrows down number of designers beeing able to do this job. regards
