Contest Brief

I have a basic sprite sheet for a 2D game prototype that needs improvement.

Please use the .PSD attached.

I purchased a set of 32x32 base character animations, selected the frames I want (Stand 01, Stand 02, Walk 01, Walk 02, Jump 01, OverheadAttack 01, OverheadAttack 02, Dying 01, Attack 01, Attack 02) and upscaled them to 128x128. I've poorly drawn a set of items on top: "Grey Shirt," "Black Pants," and "Sword." Frames are drawn in the order Base->Pants->Shirt->Weapon to create the character in-game.

I would mainly like to see the BASE CHARACTER improved greatly. Please take advantage of the 128x128 resolution (he's currently upscaled 32x32). It is not necessary to spend as much time on the other items, but making them look passable on the updated base character would be great!

Thank you!

Hi there, do we just give you 1 example, or do you need the whole set (i.e. Stand 01, Stand 02, Walk 01, Walk 02, Jump 01, OverheadAttack 01, OverheadAttack 02, Dying 01, Attack 01, Attack 02) to be done?

Hi Michael, just 1 or 2 examples to judge the style and quality of your work would be sufficient, but I would expect all 10 frames to be completed and delivered if awarded.

As mentioned to Natasha, please feel free to deviate from the existing sprite, or throw it away completely in favor of your own drawings in a style that you are most comfortable with. I just need the 10 specified animation frames in 128x128 in a "naked" style that lends itself well to overlayed weapons, items, hair, eyes, etc.

Hi vanmanh12, I've reviewed your submission and I think you have misunderstood the requirements. I am building a 2D platformer-style game, which displays sprites in quick succession to simulate animations.

My game has equippable items, so every item has to be drawn multiple times, corresponding to the number of base character frames. This is why I've kept the total number of animation frames low, to minimize the amount of drawing necessary for items.

The .PSD attached contains the 10 base character sprite frames will be used in the game, as well as 3 sets of example item sprites that will be composited onto the base character sprite in real-time during gameplay.

Your submission appears to have applied skeletal animation to my sprite, which is not what I'm looking for, but thank you for the submission nonetheless!
