Contest Brief

I need a logo designed for a Pink Floyd tribute band.

In order to successfully complete this project you'll need to be familiar with Pink Floyd's iconic imagery (Prism, Wall, graffiti writing, album covers etc etc). The logo obviously needs to be eye-catching and be able to work well in a variety of sizes and print formats, and on a variety of backgrounds (including black). Although it will need to reflect the style of traditional Pink Floyd icons, it should not draw too heavily on them .... too many Pink Floyd tributes basically take a prism, or a wall, or an album cover and use it as their logo and it all ends up a bit "same-y". The logo needs to be quite "fun"....not a parody by any means, nor silly, but it needs to be quite joyous and outgoing.

Our USP is that we're fans - we're not trying to emulate the colder, more distant aspects of Floyd. The logo should not contain any text. It should be instantly obvious, to anyone who knows Pink Floyd, that it's a Floyd-based logo.

This project will probably suit someone who is familiar with Pink Floyd. I haven't attached examples of the "iconic Floyd imagery" because if you know Floyd, you'll already know what I mean! But if you need guidance, let me know.

You'll need to have a pretty good grasp of English for when we get into modifications /revisions etc.

Edit, to clarify....Once again, the logo should not contain any text of any kind. Especially not the words "Pink Floyd Tribute Band". So if you submit a logo with words or letters in it, and your logo contains absolutely no visual reference to Pink Floyd iconography, then I'm just gonna delete your entry and report it for not having read the brief! :)

Another edit to clarify....It's nice to see some people drawing on Floyd imagery. Thanks for reading the brief! However, note what I said in the brief about their use...."Although it will need to reflect the style of traditional Pink Floyd icons, it should not draw too heavily on them .... too many Pink Floyd tributes basically take a prism, or a wall, or an album cover and use it as their logo". I'm looking for a logo that is in the STYLE of Floyd, and that hints at the classic Floyd images strongly enough for people to know instantly that it's a Floyd-type logo, without being too direct in referencing them.

    OK...I'm looking at the entires so far and it seems nobody's quite understood what I'm after. The logo should contain NO TEXT. I'm NOT looking for the name of the band (which, incidentally, is not "Pink Floyd Tribute"). I'm looking for a graphic.

      Examples of logos without text are the Apple logo, the Android logo, the Pepsi logo, the Shell logo, the Linux penguin, the Windows logo....etc etc.

      Thanks for your question, Boris. Some logos contain the name of the product / band name etc. This logo should simply be an image with no text / name. Does that help?
