Contest Brief

We are Footway and we sell shoes online. We are looking for the best content text and best subject line for our upcoming newsletter.

The object is to write the best content and best subject line for the newsletter. We will choose the 2 top contributions, they’ll be tested against each other in Opening Rate where the highest Opening Rate will win.

Do not write about exercising or training. It always gives a lower opening rate. Do not design anything or include logos. Just plain text - NOTHING more.

Other than that, write about anything you want. Unique and exciting ideas will be premiered.

We translate our copy so avoid word plays or other "local" writing.

The top contributors will be considered for a long term collaboration with Footway, and have a chance at creating exciting content for many newsletters to come.

Only 1 contribution per freelancer. We will not open or review any more than your first contribution. Any contributions not adhering to our guidelines, will be rejected.

- Write great body text for the newsletter
- The character limit is a maximum of 45 characters for the subject line (including blank spaces)
- The word limit is 200 words for the body text

Hello everyone!

Due to some scheduling issues, we can't extend this contest and choose a winner based on opening rate. Therefore, we will select the best newsletter and also buy the second and third best newsletter. Later on we will send all of these newsletters, but by then this contest will be over.

I also want to remind you that we save the best freelancers, best ideas and the best newsletters for future work, so even if you did not win this one - if you are among the top, rest assured we will work together in the future.

  Hi Priya. The top submissions for each competition have to be sent out individually and then the opening rates have to be compared to each other to decide the winner. They have a fortnightly schedule so it will take a few weeks.

  Just like Rex T wrote above, we need to test each newsletter against the others to decide the winner. It takes quite a bit of work from our side to first choose the top newsletters, then translate them, then put all of the copy inside the newsletters, then send the newsletters, then send the other newsletter, then compare the statistics and finally deciding a winner. It is a long process but the only process that gives us valuable and correct data on which newsletter actually is the best one.

Dear Contest Holder, can you please give a bit more clarity on what you mean by 'body content'? Is it to be a blurb of the content that you have inside the newsletter? Or do you actually want a short 200 word article? A rough example would be most useful. Thanks!
