Hi, multimedia engineer by education and video pro by profession here. I've done some calculating for your videos: 1. Average bandwidth for 720p videos (YouTube HD) is around 32 MB/min or 160 MB for 5 minutes (your average). Please note YouTube has changed streaming API (interface) recently and downloading 1080p (read Full HD) videos is not allowed. 2. 400 videos times 160 MB means 64 GB. 3. This amount is relatively easy to download with an avg. 4 Mbit/s (24 MB/min) or 64 GB in 45 hours so 2 days. Uploading by asymmetrical (slower) transmission can take longer. Because my current upload line is not at this ratio I am wondering if you have any remote Linux web server with the SSH access option. The requirement is to be able to: a) login remotely, b) spawn a GUI session and run downloader program to downoad all videos (64+ GB free space!), and c) having a script or manually upload all videos (can be in batches) to your online cloud sharing platform. Your platform depends on planned video usage. If it's for your personal viewing then Amazon S3 cloud account can be really cheap. For several users the bandwidth and price have to be calculated based on established predictions (and that can get costly). OK, please let me know regarding your remote server option.
