Code analysis / documentation / refactoring of 8051 microcontroller embedded C source code

We're looking for a seasoned/experienced embedded engineer to fulfill the following tasks:

- Code analysis of source code that operates an industrial coin sorter

- Detailed documentation of the codebase to provide clear understanding and instructions for future development

- Refactoring of the codebase to improve its structure and efficiency

Source code is written in C (IDE: Keil C51). We will provide as much information as we have on hardware and PCB specification. Caveat: These are currently NOT well documented.

Requirements:

* Programming Languages - C

* Expertise / familiarity with 8051 MCU, specifically Nuvoton Chipset.

Ideal Skills and Experience:

- Strong knowledge and experience in embedded C programming and the 8051 microcontroller

- Expertise in code analysis and documentation

- Experience in refactoring code to improve its quality and maintainability

- Ability to communicate clearly

- Dedication to meet project deadlines in a timely manner

- Attention to details

Expected Project Timeline: 2-4 weeks depending on the level of expertise.

Expected outcome:

- Refactored source code that is fully functional.

- Clear documentation of functionality and the interaction of the various components

- No specific coding standards are required, but I expect the freelancer to follow best practices in their refactoring process.
