Newspapers and websites follows a particular pattern to display news based on various categories (Top stories, World, Politics, Sports, Local news etc.). A temporary short term help is needed for an ongoing news aggregation technology project. Please find below the various tasks associated with this work The first task in this job is to come up with a comprehensive list of news categories and, wherever applicable, associated sub-categories in an organized manner (which general readers are familiar with). Second task is to compile a list of news or blogs websites in each category/sub category which have RSS feed support. Note that the news sources should be popular among the general readers in USA. An example of category is Sports section and within sports sub categories could be NFL, Soccer etc. In this case ESPN's [login to view URL] RSS feed can be used for latest sports news and for specific sport's news, say NFL, [login to view URL] can be used. Similarly, Business is a category and Technology can be the sub category. technology as a sub category can have specialized tech news websites such as [login to view URL], techcrunch.com. The regional news websites are also in the scope which means you will need to look at all 50 states to cover the regional category. For each section, come up with at least 5 websites. For local/regional news category, the number could be less. For example, for New Jersey it [login to view URL] and News 12 etc. Third task is to rank the websites chosen for Top News, World, Politics based on their political spectrum (from liberal to conservative) Four task is to compile a list of websites (At least 3 per category) which provides RSS Feed for short(summary) videos for the various news categories.
