New Mahindra Marazzo - Ready To Rule
Here’s what you can except from the newly launched Mahindra Marazzo MPV.
The Marazzo has been designed by Mahindra by pooling in its international resources like the research Center MANA and its recently acquired Italian design from Pininfarnia.
DESIGN
It’s design is unique and is inspired by that of a shark, similar to how the cheetah inspired XUV500. The same can be seen from the number of images in the teaser that is out everywhere. The grille are inspired from the sharks teeth while the LED taillights design is made up by taking sharks tail in mind. It also has a feature of diamond cut alloy wheels and the model also comes with projector lens headlamps and LED DRLs.
INTERIOR
It has a clean design on dashboard. The seats are upholstered in beige leather, keep the premium touch on the model. Four spoke steering wheel, dual pod instrument cluster with a multi functional instrument display unit and a massive touchscreen system.
PRICING
The Marazzo has been launched in four variants M2, M4, M6 and M8. The M2 is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, the M4 at Rs 10.95 lakh, while the M6 and M8 are cost Rs 12.40 lakh and 13.90 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom pan-India) respectively. All variants will be available in 7-seater and 8-seater configurations, with the latter commanding a premium of Rs 5,000 over the former.
FEATURES
The Mahindra Marazzo is powered by a new 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 121PS of max power and 300Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that drives the front wheels. The Diesel engine is 1497 cc. It is available with the Manual transmission. Depending upon the variant and fuel type the Marazzo has a mileage of 17.3 kmpl. The Marazzo MPV and has a length of 4585 mm, width of 1866 mm and a wheelbase of 2760 mm.
The Automator claims that the new motor will be low in weight and easy on the pocket as well, with reduced NVH levels. The new Diesel engine will also boast of impressive fuel efficiency. The motor will come paired with a manual transmission. A petrol engine won’t be introduced at the time of launch on 3rd September but could be added later, depending on the demand.
COMPETITION
Marazzo will mainly compete with segment leader Toyota Innova Crysta and also with Ertiga and Hexa. At this price, it undercuts the Tata Hexa and Toyota Innova by a huge difference. However it is priced more than Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. So if you compare by price, you can get a 7 seater premium MPV at the cost of a Hyundai Creta. The Marazzo is longer and wider than Ertiga,Lodgy and TUV 300 Plus. It is also wider than the Innova Crysta, but the Toyota is longer. The Marazzo's 2760mm wheelbase is only shorter than just the Lodgy, but longer than all other MPVs in this comparison. That speaks volumes about the kind of cabin space the latest Mahindra MPV might offer. Marazzo is a body-on-frame vehicle with a FWD layout, which is a rarity. Unlike other body-on-frame MPVs in this comparison (Innova Crysta and TUV300 Plus), the Marazzo is powered by a sub-2-litre diesel engine. It's 1.5-litre diesel engine does appear a tad small for a ladder-frame MPV but despite being low on displacement, the engine produces the second highest power and torque on paper in this comparison.
On the whole, the Marazzo clearly bridges the gap between the Ertiga and the Innova Crysta, not only on the price chart but also on many other counts, like size, cabin space and engine power.
Anyways, getting a premium car at this cost with such great specs in India is a dream come true for millions of people. Marazzo seems to be a great competition in market as per the current scenario.
