1. So what does the word "saudade" mean?
The word "Saudade" comes from Portuguese and Galician, and is roughly defined as follows:
"A deep emotional state of nostalgic or profound melancholic longing for an absent something or someone that one loves. Moreover, it often carries a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might never return."
With its complex and elaborate meaning, Saudade is a word particularly hard to translate in other languages. And while it has no direct translation in English, there are words of relative definitions in several cultures and languages; they are mostly related to, however, music styles.
