Analyze the Research: Which research method is used (Correlational, Experimental)? If Experimental, what is the Independent Variable (IV) and Dependent Variable (DV)? If Correlational, are there any Confounding Variables, and if so, what are they? Is the correlation positive or negative? Review the Results: What did the authors find? Does the evidence that they present match the claims that they make? Why or why not? Discussion/Conclusion: What are the authors' main arguments? How are these conclusions supported by the evidence? Why are the conclusions important? How does the study improve or promote the understanding of behavior and mental processes? How are the findings falsifiable? --Remember from class that the The Falsification Principle, proposed by Karl Popper, is a way of separating science from non-science. It suggests that for a theory to be considered scientific it must be able to be tested and conceivably proven false. For example, the hypothesis that “all swans are white,” can be falsified by observing a black swan. Science seeks to disprove. What questions are left unanswered by the study for future research? (Many times the researchers will include this in their Conclusion). What groups need to be included in future research to validate the findings? Locate 2 research articles on the same topic you chose Provide the title and abstract for each new article Answer these questions: What does each of the additional articles contribute to your original research? How does each of the additional articles contradict or validate your original resource?
