I'm looking for an overview of the "Independent" Restaurant industry in the United States. This includes number of independents, number of independents by state, breakdown of independents (how many are full-service restaurants, how many are quick service or limited service restaurants), average revenue per independent location, growth trends past 5 years, growth trend forward looking 5 years, venue / category of food cuisine (i.e India, Mexican, American, Italian etc.) and major challenges facing independents restauranteurs (restaurant owners). Independent restaurants are "non-chain" restaurants and "non-franchised" restaurants. I'm looking a nicely presented industry overview with graphs, charts and cited data. Also, i'd like for you to include a section of "buying groups" within the independent restaurant space. A buying group is a group where independents join together to get discounts by leveraging purchasing power. There are a few out there and i'd like an overview of each. What are they saving their members, what are the costs to join, what % of rebates do they take etc.. All focused on independents. No chains. No franchises.
