Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in Academic/Research Editing Role Description: You will be assigned papers of varying difficulty levels (in terms of English, subject matter expertise, and extent of intervention needed) written by non-native English speakers. These papers are written by, what we believe constitute, an eclectic group of authors and writers, i.e., we receive work from not only scientists, researchers, and students but also corporates, linguists, and the common man trying to communicate in English from the latest in cutting-edge technology to the timeless fascination with history and arts! Technical expertise: Our freelance editors should ensure the following: correct grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, word choice, flow and transition, content, coherence, and manuscript format (citation style, layout, section headings) that conform to academic conventions. The freelance editor should also ensure that the authors intended meaning is maintained even in papers requiring extensive revision. Required skills: We prefer editor profiles that reflect research experience (studies conducted, papers written/published, papers reviewed, etc.) Certificate/experience in academic editing, publishing, scientific communication, journal article writing, etc. Between 27 years of experience in editing ESL (English as a second language) manuscripts, Knowledge of style guides (such as APA, CMS, AMA, CSE, IEEE, etc.) and conventions followed in academic writing. Ability to handle regular work and, sometimes, projects with short turnaround time. Knowledge of Advanced Word formatting and general formatting requirements of journals.
