We are into business of decorative lighting. We offer customized lighting solution for homes. We provide the lighting solution in xls, where we take each light point and recommend options. Each line will contain for example:
Light point/Light Area | Light option 1 | Picture | Quantity | MRP | total Value | Discount | Value after discount
Sometimes we have multiple suggestions for each lighting point. what we want is the excel to have some kind of select option at the beginning of each line. When we have multiple options for the light point, only one of the lights should be selected. For example, if there are 3 options (on 3 different consecutive rows), then by default the 1st row light will be selected. there will be option to select the second or third row. Once that is selected, the 1st row should automatically get deselected.
Once the selection is done, the entire row colour should change to indicate selection. Also, the sum total of the value at the bottom of the sheet should get updated to account for only selected lights.

I would propose a dropdown menu instead when several options are available. I think it would look more professional and intuitive.
So that would be:
When several options are available: a single line with a dropdown text menu in one of the fields. It would standard be on option 1, when clicked on the small arrow next to it, the other options will dropdown and can be selected. When selected, the squares of row should change to the new data corresponding the selected option.
I have experience with both tasks, actually the option you propose is slightly easier to create.
