Original Nintendo (NES) game written in 6502 Assembly Language

Hello!

I'm the owner of several retro gaming stores and I would like to make my own NES games. I am looking to hire a programmer to make the several games that I already have storyboarded and designed. These games will be released on actual NES cartridges for use in the original NES system. I have some knowledge of 6502 assembly and I know enough about the NES and its restrictions as a console to manage this project. Games must be developed with all original code from the ground up, there can be no code taken from existing games unless we get written permission to use parts of their code!!!

I have a graphic artist and a sound artist who have already completed a lot of work for this project, I just need a programmer who is competent in 6502 assembly. I am not opposed to portions of the game being written in C and compiled down to assembly but I would like to limit this approach.

The current budget is a base price. If things are going well and we want to work in more features I would not be opposed to increasing the budget to make a better game!!!

Features of the current game that I would like to work on (sample artwork is attached):

- 2D, one direction, side-scrolling game like to Super Mario Bros. (no vertical scrolling)

- The Hero character's only actions will be running, jumping and punching (no kicking, ducking, weapons or projectiles for the Hero)

- 5 level game (levels can be subdivided to limit background tiles to a max of 256 per subdivision to make it easier to code)

- 1 Hero (2 sprite layers laid over top of each other like Megaman)

- 3 kinds of enemies with unique A.I. and direct collision detection, no projectiles (single sprite layers)

- 5 end-level bosses with unique A.I.

- 1 type of static object per level that deals damage (e.g. spikes, broken glass)

- 1 type of dynamic object per level that deals damage (a sprite that moves vertically or horizontally and has no A.I., e.g. dripping slime, falling rocks)

- Simple, on-screen graphic to show the Hero's health and lives, if we elect for the MMC3 mapper we may develop a full HUD.

- 6 cut scenes to tell the story

- Unique music tracks for each level and each end-level boss, also some sound effects for certain actions.

I have the 5 background levels at or near completion, I can send you .png files of the full levels as well as .png files of the tiles for each level and the tile matrix with a separate block matrix for the static, interactive background tiles. Hero and Enemy Sprites are all nearly complete with all their animations. Again I can send you .png files of the tiles as well as .gifs of the animations. The music will be provided as NSF files. If possible I would like to utilize the DMC channel for sound effects but this is not necessary if it pushes us over budget.

I am very serious about making this game happen and will be heavily promoting it both online and in my stores. I have merchandise in the works such as pins, stickers, posters and t-shirts. I'm very confident that if this game is done right it will be a winner and I will be able to sell it online and in my stores. If all goes well I will want to make a sequel to this with a much expanded world, more options and a much larger budget! If you want to break into the game making business this would be a great project to get your name out there!!!
