Product packaging design and logo creation

I have had my website - [login to view URL] operating for about 10 years and a little over 3 years ago I had it redesigned and converted to complete ecommerce. Over the past 3 years a lot of products has been added to the site and a lot has changed in web technology. I want to revamp my site to really look first class now. That will be a second project. The first step in this new project is to have someone create a company logo and package design for one of my main products. I am not looking for "Website design" in this project - only a logo design ideas and a package design that is ready for mass marketing in major retail stores. Once I complete these projects i will come back and post the website project. My typical customer is pretty much anyone at any age from 15 years old - 90 years old. I have sold products in over 70 countries to english reading and writing customers. My customers will range from college research professors to product design engineers to inventors, hobbyists and moms helping kids with science projects. Lots of school teachers ranging from kindergarten to high school. My only exposure to the outside world has been through this website. I plan on presenting several of my products to major retail outlets but I need a package design - this includes designing a new logo and integrating it into the product package. The package design is more than just the artwork but it is the complete design of the plastic housing. All of my products are manufactured in China and I have many suppliers. I need the design artwork that will allow them to take it to a plastic package molder and get the right design made. My manufacturers are not very good at doing this without guidance. You can see in the photo that their "great idea" of packaging design was to have the plastic package held together by staples. I point this out on the photo with pink arrows. I want a package that snaps together or is fused together a lot like the HP printer ink cartridge sets you can get at Sams, Wal Mart or Office Max. I have attached 3 photos of the main product that i need an immediate package design. This is my ceiling hooks and ceiling hook installer set. It has been great for shipping from my website but it needs to be designed so customers walking through office supply stores or teacher stores can see it and at a glance know what it does and how easy it is to use. The package must be designed to allow for the universal bar code that most retail stores from Wal Mart to Sears to Office Depot to Lowes or Home Depot would be able to carry this product. I have sold over 100,000 of the ceiling hooks - about 3,000 of the ceiling hook installer sets. I estimate that this is less than 1% of the total market. My current inventory is almost depleted and I need to get some more sets in product but i am waiting on this design to place the order. Supplier requirements - this is what i need you to do: Look at the product and the package design and determine what it should look like to be a bright colored, eye catching design that looks like other items currently available in any major retail store. Design a logo that provides a unique cool design that is easy to associate with my company. This design must be able to work on business cards, T-shirts, monogrammed on polo shirts, printed on flyers and other business marketing tools. In the future I will integrate the design into my boxes and shipping packages. Provide all artwork in final high res form for Adobe Illustrator CS3 or 4. I have Adobe Master Collection CS4 so i can handle anything that suite handles. I am not an artist or designer so I do not intend to edit the artwork but I need the highest resolution files to send to the various manufacturers so they can get the best quality product for me. Do not supply any other file format for me to review other than PDF or JPG or AI or PSD. Design the package and provide the design materials to make sure that a company in the business of making this package can make the packages from your design. There is no chance of getting the packaging done in the US. I need the product to arrive ready for sale - direct from the box. After reviewing the site and video and photos if you think the package needs better images just tell me what you need. I can either send you a sample of the product for you to work with or I can take the photos and / or videos and upload them to you. I have a Nikon D300 camera and Canon XH A1 HDV video camera so I can provide the photos but if you would prefer to take your own shots that is 100% OK with me. Warning: I put this in to let you know a few things. First of all I will set the project up for a milestone payment of 50% when I approve the basic low resolution sketch type image for the logo and package design. I will pay the remaining 50% as soon as the work is complete and you can transfer the high resolution artwork to me with all rights. Since Web Elite Studios stole a lot of money from me last year when I agreed to an up front payment I cannot allow myself to pay up front again. So if you want up front payment you will not want to bid on this project. I may award this project to more than one supplier if I see a couple of bidders that look like they have really impressive portfolios. Of course I will pay both of them but will only be able to use one of them. If you need me to tell you what the bar code specs are for the various retail stores then this project is not for you. I am posting the project to find that expertise. If you want me to tell you what I want it to look like then this project is not for you. I am an engineer and a product inventor. I have hundreds of products that I will be developing as I can afford them but I am not a packaging designer nor a graphic designer of any kind. I can use all of the design tools but it looks like an engineer did it and that is not what I need to make an eye-catching product for retail stores. I need an experienced product package designer that has a track record of successful products that currently on shelves in major retail stores.
