Design a WordPress Mockup that can be applied to a theme

THIS DESIGN PROJECT IS FOR SOMEONE WHO ALSO UNDERSTANDS WEB DEVELOPMENT
I have a video magazine at [login to view URL] that was never designed or branded and so it looks flat and dated. On the homepage, you cannot tell it's a video magazine because nothing is playing -- there isn't a "watch now" or video logo over image posts and nothing moves on the page -- everything is static.
The designer for this project should know web development and the most up to date web development technology. They should be able to design with functionality and user experience in mind and be able to hack WordPress themes (customize theme) to deliver a rich design and great user experience. This project is for design only and I am willing to go higher for a great look where creativity and unique but simple design leaves an impression.
I am open to continue using the Newstube theme by cactus themes, to consider this videobox theme: [login to view URL] or another theme you suggest. Two MUSTS are that the end product plays videos with one click as they do now, as opposed to most video themes which require 2 clicks -- one to open the post and a 2nd click to play video.
Design-wise, I am looking for something similar to thescene.com. Another inspiration is [login to view URL] because it has many of the business elements we need and has my preferred comments style. The header area must have some type of video slider that AUTOMATICALLY plays the last 4-5 featured videos or a promo video (so when people land on the site they should know our offerings and that vurbmag is a video blog. I am open to using a single promo video if you suggest against playing the 4-5 most recent featured posts (as they're doing on thescene,.com).
Design must look BRANDED and creative, as if specifically created for a brand called Vurb (mag and tv). It must look stylish and offer a great user experience for a 20-something audience (male and female).
Project will be to design a logo and 5-6 pages including post page, homepage, category page, playlist page, about page and up to one other and a look that is branded. Please note that by branded I mean to add more than an accent color to a theme. The branded look of your design should make sense for a one-of-a-kind stylish infotainment coaching brand.
WHAT WE DO: In our magazine (think of it as our blog), we post other people's YouTube videos and comment on them, add a "Take Action" coaching section at the end of the commentaries. Many times the "take action" section offers coaching recommendations linking to experts people can work with on that topic as well as resources and other how-to's to take the video further.
We are infotainment first and foremost -- we reference and talk to celebrities, up and coming rappers, career coaches and a broad spectrum of people. We answer subscribers questions and do interesting and unusual projects and challenges that gets people going and learning in a new "active learning way.
Would like to keep the design under $1,000 and cannot consider anyone who doesn't give specifics or who just copy/paste their profile.
PREFER EXPERTS IN NORTH AMERICA. CANNOT RESPOND TO ANYONE WHO HASN'T READ PROJECT AND RESPOND INTELLIGENTLY TO MY NEEDS.
Can only consider people who share working links to sites they've actually DESIGNED and who share samples of logos they've done.
