I worked on with Flash MX and Actionscript 1 for 2 years, then AS2 for around 6 years then moved to AS3 - I have created games in Flash freelance for the BBC, Cartoon Network, MTV and other big online arcade sites. I am very skilled in Javascript (currently a senior software engineer primarily working in AngularJS and PHP). I think the simplest way to approach this project would be to create a basic framework in JavaScript and then copy/convert chunks of ActionScript in to add the features of the original app. The inherent differences in the way Flash and HTML5 handle animation make creating an initial solid framework desirable. One concern I had when looking through the ActionScript is the number of loadMovie commands. It looks like the fla loads a lot of other swf files and I don't know how much work converting them will be.
