Image Processing for Book Scanning

The long term scope of the project is to build a book scanner:

1. a book is photographed without much effort made to smoothing the pages (no overglass, for example)

2. image processing software then prepares the images (trims, dewarps, improves readability, adjusts contrast, etc.)

3. the book is then packaged as EPUB, including DRM

This bid request is to explore the development of step #2, software to prepare the images. The goal is to write software that fully automates the preparation of the images. Please propose how much it would cost to do a first draft of the preparation software, and how high quality you think the result would be.

You might want to manually process one or more test images using Photoshop, to demonstrate where the automated process might be able to take them.

## Deliverables

The attachment contains sample "scans", which are really 7 megapixel images of a textbook.

It would be great to automatically determine that each image is two pages and generate two separate output files.
