We need to have clearly defined cases of Engine Shutdown, once you provide us with that, 1- Making a prediction by first reading all signs and assigning them some numerical value, later on feeding such many pattern images into Image recoginition and extracting patterns for failure. 2- Feeding test images for checking accuracy of algorithm Conventionally predictive maintenance needs vibrations data , which can be understood by FFT(Fast Fourier Transform ) method. this problem falls under predictive maintenance category but not really cuz the description doesn't mention what are the final deliverables. is the data in tabular format or it a audio of the machine or any other continuous variable along the time,the type of data and the actual deliverables effects the time and cost as well as a mechanical engineer currently working as a data scientist I have delivered a predictive maintenance problem before for my employer. so I think we should discuss more on your project, let's do it

There are multiple approaches you can take depending on your 1. training data set (historical data) size. 2. the number of features (input signals) you can make. It looks like you have multiple different categories. One easy way to go by is... you just make a model to predict the probability of one given class. For ML, you should start with a simple model to see how it works. For instance, you can start with logistic regression. Check out accuracy, auc, precision, and recall. If a simple model satisfies your needs, then you can just deploy it in production. However, you can improve the performance by trying out more sophisticated models like random forest, xg boost, etc. Unless you have a large enough set of training data, there is no need/can't do deep learning (always sounds fancy but often meh)
