The goal of this project is to come up with a list of top quality professional organizations in: NEW YORK CITY.
We are looking for a person to conduct online research for popular, well-respected, and innovative professional groups, organizations, and associations that focus on the following industries and sectors:
- Entrepreneurship (venture-backed high-tech software startups)
- Internet/Software
- Mobile/Wireless/Telecommunications
- Bio-Technology and Modern Sciences
- Venture Capitalists and Angel Investors
The deliverable will be a Microsoft Excel 2000 file that should contain at least 50 items. It should have 3 columns as follows:
- Group Name - the name of the group or organization
- Group Website - the URL of the group, starting with http://
- Industry (Entrepreneurship, Internet, Mobile, BioTech, or VC) - the industry that each group serves/represents the most
If you are intersted in this project, please do the following:
1) Send us a list of 4 groups/websites you have already found based on our outlines above (we will use this to evaluate your research approach)
2) Any questions you may have about our selection criteria, process, etc.
This is a starter project as we have additional cities we are targeting (30+ in total). Ideally we would like to partner with someone who we can work well with together for the other city projects we have.

These organizations should represent themselves as being a part of their local city business ecosystem, and should be regarded as a central resource for business professionals.
To determine how prominent or relevant a group is, you can review various information on their websites such as:
- Any partnerships with other local organizations
- Strategic alliances with larger industry organizations
- Representing or being a part of major industry conference(s)
- A significant sponsor of prominent conferences or events
You may also review local business trade newspapers and online portals to aide your search ([url removed, login to view], groups on [url removed, login to view], etc.).
Please do NOT include any websites dealing with the following:
- Job sites, job seekers, job services, job resources, job placement agencies, recruiters, temp agencies, etc.
- Chambers of Commerce
- Business Network International (BNI)
- State-run agencies, small business administration offices, government offices, etc
- Universities, Colleges, trade schools, etc.
- Business/Corporate Parks
Again, this list should consist of innovative, modern, cutting-edge groups - associations that have been created to address the modern challenges in today's markets. As a researcher on this project, your understanding and/or experience with leading edge innovation in today's markets will help you compile this list. We are looking for someone who has a sense for what is "innovative" and "new" and has the business acumen to seek out great groups and create a comprehensive list.
