I'm currently trying to develop an OBD adapter that communicates with an API to be able to get diagnostic trouble codes remotely. It's an MVP so it just needs to be simple for proof of concept. I am using the Freematics ONE+ adapter made by Freematics. You can find more info here [login to view URL] It is ESP32 based. Here is the source code for the adapter and the libraries here. [login to view URL] I am using a SIM card by Hologram so it can communicate by the cell network. You can find more info on them here. [login to view URL] I also need an API that can receive data from the adapter and can communicate with it. Need a developer with IoT experience. Hopefully, that is enough information to help you understand the scope of the project. Deliverables firmware for the adapter to receive the trouble codes and transmit to API API that receives the data from the adapter via the cell network and can also communicate with it to receive the codes

Hi, I have experience with ESP8266 which is close enough to ESP32, and creating APIs, mainly Java and Javascript. This project is very interesting for me, because most of IoT related projects I have done before are mainly for home automation. Interfacing Car through ODB, a novelty for me, and I would be glad to do it. Firstly, I would implement the ESP32 to API interface for exchanging commands and data. Secondly, I would work getting the data from the ODB and posting it through to the API. Lastly, I would work on sending commands to the ODB. Probably an API is not the best solution for this project, maybe a Websocket interface is better. We could try out both.
