We are an irrigation installer based in the UK, mainly for Fruit Farmers. We need to find a replacement product to a competitor’s system for when we replace to a new system, this is as follows:
We are looking for the design of a system including PCB design and firmware/software. The requirements are for a 2-wire encoder/decoder communication that can communicate up to 1000M over the 2 wires running at 27-30V AC. The input side will have 2 options at this stage – a Digital version for the first one and a TCP Modbus communication from a PLC for the second option. Options explained in more detail below, but an input card that ‘talks’ to output Decoder cards that is a single output on each output Decoder with a switched relay output to power a 24V AC solenoid. See drawing attached to the project to explain further.
Decoder
The single channel Decoder output card needs to a decoder with a pre-allocated number (six digits preferable) with a common 24VAC on the input and output of the card, the 0V being switched by the relay. The relay card can have AC/DC bridge rectifier on it if the electronics need DC voltage to work. The switching load of the relay Decoder card will be 9W @ 24VAC. The Decoder unit will need flying leads for connection to the 2-wire and the load. Will confirm the PCB size, to be mounted in a little plastic box and resin filled. The same Decoder needs to work on both input options
Encoder option 1 – 16-Channel inputs
The 16-Channel input Encoder card will work from an external power source 27-30VAC, have 16 inputs to create digital signals to the output relay Decoder card. To be able to add/program up to 16 Decoder Cards. This unit will also need to be able to be programmable with the Decoder 6-digit number, this can be either from a simple piece of software from a PC with USB connectivity or from a user interface built into the unit. Fuse protection from short circuit is also necessary. PCB size to be confirmed, but to have a 3mm hole in each corner for panel mounting and to be to a size to fit into a PCB holder for DIN rail mounting.
Encoder option 2 – TCP Modbus communication inputs
The TCP Modbus input Encoder card will work from an external power source 27-30VAC, have TCP Modbus inputs to create digital signals to the output relay Decoder card. To be able to add/program up to 32 Decoder Cards. This unit will also need to be able to be programmable with the Decoder 6-digit number, this can be from a built in Web config page through the TCP, plus will need to be able to configure IP addressing details. Fuse protection from short circuit is also necessary. PCB size to be confirmed, but to have a 3mm hole in each corner for panel mounting and to be to a size to fit into a PCB holder for DIN rail mounting.
