our complete requirement is the following:
An alternate oscommerce cart/checkout module.
It should allow us to select from a set of discount options. This should be flexible so that other discount options can be added later.
The discount options in the version 1 should be:
1) X+Y discount.
For a set of brands (Manufacturers) that is selectable form a list there should be the option to select the X+Y option. With X an Y parameters
Example: For brands/manufacturers BRAND1/BRAND7/BRAND9 buy 3 (x) and get 1 frees (Y) or buy 5 and gets 2 free.
This will be manufacturer centric: Buy products from the list of “selected” manufacturers. In a later phase we’d probably want specific products but at first the manufacturer will be enough.
Ideally the date at which the promotion starts and ends should be selectable: example: 15 december midnight until 17 December midnight. We are CET based and our hoster is in the US.
2) Discount on cheapest product
For a set of brands (Manufacturers) that is selectable form a list there should be the option to select the discount on cheapest product.
Then parameters should allow the tuning.
Buy 1 product and the cheapest product gets a discount of Z% (example 10%) Buy 1 product flat (x%) discount will be applicable
Buy 2 products and the cheapest product gets a discount of Y% (example 20%). The other one gets no discount
Buy 3 products and the cheapest product gets a discount of X% (example 50%). The other ones get no discount
Buy 4 products and the cheapest product gets a discount of W% (example 75%) The other ones get no discount
Buy 5 products and the cheapest product gets a discount of V% (example 100%) The other ones get no discount
Buy 6 products and the cheapest product gets a discount of V% (example 100%) The other ones get no discount

3) Get a set of discounts that are automatically spread over multiple products. (Similar to the above but slightly different)
Customer gets Z% Y% X% W% V%. For example 2% 5% 8% 10% 15%
On the cheapest product het gets Z% (2%) if he buys 1 product.
or
On the cheapest product het gets Y% (5%) and the second cheapest one he gets Z% (2%) if he buys 1 product.
or
...
Example

Then write the products you want to buy next to it. Start with the most expensive one on top. Stop whenever you like. So buy 1 product and get flat fee 2%
Buy 2 products then the cheapest gets 5% the second one 2% Buy 3 products. Cheapest one 8%, the following one 5% the last one 2%,…
The result will be
2%;ost expensive product<
5% second expensive product
8% second cheqpest product
10%Cheqpest product
15% not used I only want 4 products
When adding products to his cart the customer should see the discount directly on the product and on the total.
