We are a small non-profit looking to put a professional face on our site. I have seen several sites, each of which contains bit and pieces of what we want the site to eventually look like. For instance: [login to view URL] has a frame that slowly fills the screen as photos, graphics and what-have-you loads in the background. other sites have a simple frame that rotates small photos giving the sense of video but in all respects is just one gif morphing into another every few seconds. I personally dislike ANY sounds that start playing when I enter a site - voice overs, MIDIs etc can be embarassing if I open a site in a public area (you know Paris moaning can draw attention in a coffee shop) but I DO like the option of placing a speaker icon where the user can choose to turn on the sound - kind of a 'opt-in' situation. We like - but are not married to - the idea of a left column 20% of the width, a main column 60% and the far right column of another 20%. The percentages are arbitrary. We find the newspaper format the easiest to get small snippets of news that - when clicked on - take you to the entire story. Readers should have a simple way to leave comments and contact us. We have a lot of graphics done over the last few years that can be incorporated PLease take a look at our site [login to view URL] and feel free to make suggestions. We aren't rich but we will pay a fair price
