Automated Medical Billing (For Alberta-Canada)

he goal for this automated billing project will be to accurately and securely compile the client's (doctors and medical professionals) billing manifests for input to the Alberta H-Link while adhering to the Alberta Health Services (AHS) billing requirements. All effort in the formulation of this automated project will be directed towards this overall goal. Value for the client will be generated in providing a timely submission to AHS with minimal, if not negligible, error and rework. The scope of this project consists of updating an existing website to receive online submissions from the medical professionals. These submissions will be processed with the current AHS billing codes (new database), compared to a rule engine, set into the proper text files for submission to AHS. Any errors in the billing submission will need to be flagged for manual update. The system will then need to receive a response from AHS which will confirm a correct submission. If the submission fails, a error report will need to be generated for error correction. The billing code database can be created from existing code hand books (soft copies available). The rule engine will need to be developed with the AHS rules and guidelines and experience from previous manual submissions (provided by the requesting team). Submission files to AHS have a specific format, outlined in a scope document which can be provided upon request. Cosmetic updates and usability updates to the current website will be required.
