stop timeout/re-login of users in Joomla 3

We have a situation with our Joomla 3 build that when a user is using in website they are being kicked out/timed out/etc. Tried plug-in , did not help. Either need help with Joomla 3 setting and/or code fix. MUST have experience with this before.
