eBay Digital Content Post-Sale Automation Script
$250-750 USD
Paid on delivery
Hi, I'm technical (linux basics, cloud/HCI work), but not a coder by any means.
I have the following scenario:
I sell a digital product on eBay. The product is a large single file (~10gb), which I store on dropbox. When I make a sale, I share the dropbox file with the buyer's email address. They then create a dropbox account, allowing dropbox sync tool to ensure they get the download without corruption. I'm currently doing the below steps manually, which drives me insane because it is brain dead work, but I'm just not equipped to code it (I wouldn't even know which language is appropriate). I tried Zapier, but it falls flat with no eBay support, and insufficient Dropbox capability.
I have tinkered slightly with bash scripting and python, but amateur would be an over statement. That said, I am hoping, the end product is written in a manner allowing me to follow the logic, including some sensible comments, and allowing me to pop it open in VI and tweak down the road should minor things change.
Here's the algorithm.
The vision is to have this live on AWS lamba or the like, so it's always listening.
-(eBay API? Webhook? idk) Trigger = specific ebay item sold
-Ideally this would be a push from eBay, so the script doesn't have to constantly poll and get empty responses when no sale has been made, but that may be harder than I appreciate.
-(eBay API) get buyer email
-(eBay API) message ebay buyer
-(eBay API) mark sold eBay item as shipped, no shipping details needed, just mark as done
-(I currently use gmail) send buyer an email with a pdf attachment
-save buyer email to buyer list google sheet
-share dropbox folder with buyer email (not sufficient to send share link, the folder must be shared to the actual dropbox user owning the buyer email)
I'm open to any thoughts, guidance, ideas, quotes. I'm not rolling in cash by any means, but I do value quality work, and will pay for it, as long as I'm able to afford.
