Since I was a little kid, I had always wanted to become a medic. I derived my inspiration from watching medical television shows e.g. MASH, Grays anatomy, St Elsewhere, General hospital and scrubs. My interest grew beyond the Television set as I became older and I realized medicine is more sensitive and inevitable around the world. I was awed with human illness and I grew interested in how most of it can be contained and treated because it touched me in a way I couldn’t understand or imagine.
Humans in the world constantly rely on doctors for medical assistance. My interest is widely cast to children and women who can’t afford or access medical care around the world. With the skills and knowledge I acquire, I will impact people in such places who try to ‘jump’ over such hurdles just to grip on0 survival. Lack of doctors, knowledge and high costs of treatment have often been a disadvantage to humanity in this places and trying to thrive under such harsh conditions has been a challenge.
I have shadowed friends who work in the medical field. One of them, a pediatric, treats kids with compassion and care and I have watched her perform tests ranging from urine to cardio tests through a viewing window. It has always been emotional watching another friend, a pathologist, greeting relatives and friends of the deceased and comforting them through the pain and the tears for their loss. I want to fuel my dream through writing since I'm good at it. Your prompt response will be awesome
