One of the roles of social entrepreneurship within a national system of innovation (NSI) is to generate and ensure effective adoption of innovations that address underserved needs. However, many such innovations and especially innovation with the twist of technology do not achieve the expected social impact. Why? My proposal will explores answers to this question by considering two top global social challenges such as poverty and Government accountability and transparency / corruption and Food and water security (18.2%) and refugee /immigration as a basic need and ‘related technology innovation such as crowdfund platform’ as an innovation for those who suffer from poverty or need to fundraise for their social challenges. I trace the evolution of tech entrepreneurship sector and major hub of innovation such as Silicon Valley ecosystem and then delve into the process of their solution or start-ups coverage to solve these global challenges. In what extend some forms of technology, when combined with social entrepreneurship, can advance social justice goals and address the basic human needs of those living in poverty and how we can bring together the expertise of companies with technology innovation to solve social challenges. I will show that demand for social entrepreneurship is being increasingly satisfied by third party sponsored social enterprises. The world has made great progress in reducing poverty, but with an increasing number of people moving to cities, more help is needed to solve health, education and crime problems. It’s here that entrepreneurs can help. Social innovation is a constantly growing movement of grassroots initiatives, recognized by policy makers on different levels in the world as an important way to tackle the increasingly-complex social and environmental challenges faced by our societies. However, the potential for social innovation to transform the way we respond to top world's challenges still remains largely untapped. today societies have faced severe challenges over the past decade, from a financial crisis breeding economic instability and political volatility to an ever-increasing pace of technological change that threatens to disrupt the social order. The introduction of digital technology with its deepening of existing inequalities is a good example of such disruption. Meeting such challenges demands new ideas, new approaches and new perspectives. This has led to the mainstreaming of social innovation as a problem-solving methodology in the last decade. Never before have we been so well-equipped to harness the collective power of civil society to solve problems faced in communities every day.
