Selling-in outbound corporate events

This is a relatively new-start project, so please, I do not want people to think I am in anyway promising the earth. My biggest problem is that I am a good creative but a lousy businessperson, hence the reason I am interested in the services of a professional. I have recently started a MICE (Meetings Incentives Conference and Exhibition) small business, concentrating on the meeting and incentives side, with conferences thrown in. Exhibitions are NOT my thing as they are very specialised. I have been used to, for the past 20 years, heading-up or assisting others with the running very large corporate events as either an employee or full-time contractor. Now I have gone solo, this has all changed. What I am interested in is someone who might have either a little free time or some existing contacts who may be interested in what we do (we have not taken any salary yet from the business as we all have other support jobs until this business breaks through - there has not been an income to date). I do not expect someone to give their all for no reward, so this is why initially I felt it was a good idea to engage with someone who was undertaking other work anyway. It could also turn into a long-term and rewarding association, as the business will need to be formalised , so the potential is for Sales Manager (or higher!) status. There could be excellent rewards for the right person, but they would need to invest a little bit of time and, like me, have patience until the money comes in. This is the reason I do not want someone who is expecting a 37.5-hour week form the outset, earning an hourly rate! I would be keen on discussing perhaps an equitable share of the profit made from business that comes in. This is NOT a get-rich quick scheme, multi-level marketing or anything like that. It is more of a potential opportunity. It is also, I'm afraid, impossible to set a budget (sorry to be so woolly) as the return would vary on the size of any potential business brought in - i.e. 60 people plus partners to Lisbon for a three-day event with incentive time would be much more rewarding than 30 people to Edinburgh for an overnight Fringe Visit.
