I need assistance in writing a powershell script

The powershell script will email users telling them that their Active Directory password is about to expire and that they need to change it. I've found a script in spiceworks that might work but I would like to test it on myself first before running it for all users, however, I'm unsure which attributes to change in order to make that happen. Thanks.
