Point of Sale Ubuntu touchscreen driver

I have purchased a Point of Sale touchscreen second hand without a hard drive. Similar to this one [login to view URL] I have installed Ubuntu and some software but I cannot get the touchscreen to work with the pre-installed ubuntu touchscreen drivers. I have a disk with the drivers that are for the hardware but I am having difficulty installing them. It may need a kernel recompile? I can provide ssh access (using putty or other) I have put the contents of the CD in a folder on the hard drive. The job would be to install the touchscreen drivers to get the touchscreen working correctly. I have tested the touchscreen with other drivers and some of them respond to touch but put the mouse icon in the wrong place so I know the touchscreen should work ok if the correct driver is installed.
