This is a short report and I would like to have someone edit it for proper structure. Here is a sample of this report: This waste vault is located behind building 50 and is dedicated to non-solvent based wastewater. It consisted of three identical tanks (T-2, 3 & 4). T-2 is storing and transferring brine waste, T-3 is dedicated to collect any spills in this vault and T-4 is kept as spare tank in case additional capacity is required. All wastewater from these tanks are being transferred to T-702A/B at 110. Since are tanks are identical and containing same wastewater, this report and their seismic calculations apply to all, while thickness measurements of their shells have been completed separately. Following are the inspection points as per California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Section 66264: These tanks are horizontal tanks, with 5,000 gallons capacity each, fabricated from carbon steel material with rubber lined interior for protection against wastewater. Dakota Ultrasonic thickness tool was utilized to measure the wall thickness around the tank. The average shell thickness around the T-2, 3 & 4 were 0.222”, 0.237” and 0.218”, while average thicknesses at their domes were 0.256”, 0.214 and 0.254 respectively. They are all equipped with two horizontal, centrifugal pumps that are external to these tanks, working off of a set of level sensors in each tank. Drawing of this tank was not readily available. Site investigation revealed that these tanks are 8’ diameter by 13’ long straight shell. These tanks were fabricated in 1981. Therefore, the age of these tanks at the time of this inspection is 34 years. These tanks by themselves do not have any leak detection systems. However, the vault’s sump is considered to be a leak detection system for these tanks as any leaks or overflow from these tanks will go to it. There are two air operated pumps installed for this sump that will pump the waste back to the same tank or to the external source. However, the operations of these pumps are manual as the level sensor inside of this sump was not operational. These tanks are fabricated from carbon steel material with rubber line interior and epoxy coating for exterior to protect them in corrosive environment. The piping to and from these tanks are PVC-80, Polypropylene (PP) or FRP, which are resistant to corrosive environment and are compatible with the wastewater. These tanks are equipped with level sensors that are turning on and off a set of centrifugal pumps, transferring the content of these tanks to T-702A/B in building 110. These level sensors along with their associated pumping systems are considered to be the spill and overflow prevention equipment. These tanks are installed inside of a waste vault that is considered to be their secondary containment. The vault is coated with Polyester coating material Ceilcote 695B-MAT reinforced, Non-sparking, Conductive coating that is compatible with the wastewater. This vault was inspected for cracks, puncture, sign of corrosion, and any structural inadequacies and all are in compliance with the code. Appendix A contains the secondary containment calculations, which indicates compliance with the code. XY has conducted integrity and tightness test after the installation of these tank in 1981 and repeated these tasks again in 2016. A dry vault and lack of any evidence of leaks around these tanks is also proof that the integrity of these tanks with all piping systems has been preserved. Copies of these documents are enclosed in Appendix B. According to the name plate on these tanks, the shell and domes were fabricated from 3/16” and ¼” respectively. The current shell and domes thickness measurement show some degradation. Based on these degradation rates and our experience, we conclude that the estimated remaining life of these tanks is 20 years.
