excel file for sale on shopify

I have an excel file for sale on shopify. i have linked shopify buy button to my website but when customers order, the excel file isn't automatically issued and the reason for this I am being told that it wont work unless the customer is purchasing directly from my shopify storefront and not buy button inside my website. Its a very quick job for someone who knows what they're doing.
