IDA Pro, Ghidra, radare2, Binary Ninja, Hopper, Hopper, Cutter, x64dbg, angr, Frida, QEMU Low-level programming knowledge: Understanding assembly language, CPU architectures, and computer organization. Familiarity with memory management, stack and heap operations, and other low-level concepts. Disassembly and decompilation: Ability to analyze and understand disassembled code, including identifying functions, control flow, and data structures. Proficiency in using disassemblers and decompilers, such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, or radare2. Debugging and tracing: Skill in using debuggers and tracing tools to step through code, set breakpoints, and analyze runtime behavior. Understanding of how to use hardware-based debugging techniques, such as JTAG or SWD. Binary analysis: Ability to identify and understand file formats, data structures, and binary protocols. Knowledge of how to use tools like file, strings, or hexdump to analyze binary data. Reverse engineering methodologies: Understanding of systematic approaches to reverse engineering, such as the Ghidra workflow or the IDA Pro disassembly and analysis process. Ability to plan and execute a reverse engineering project, including setting goals, collecting and analyzing data, and drawing conclusions. Scripting and automation: Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python, Perl, or Ruby, to automate and streamline reverse engineering tasks. Familiarity with scripting frameworks and libraries for reverse engineering, like angr or Frida. Problem-solving and lateral thinking: Ability to think critically, break down complex problems, and develop creative solutions. Persistence and attention to detail when faced with complex or obfuscated code. Documentation and reporting: Skill in clearly documenting the reverse engineering process and findings, including explanations of techniques used and conclusions drawn. Ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
