## BIO OBJECTIVE Looking to be involved in a mixed environment (Linux & Windows or VMWare), but it does not have to be. I find that mixed environments keep my skill sets on both sides of the fence from slipping down the cracks. I am a heavy proponent of open source where it can be used effectively. SKILLS PROFILE • Bachelor of Science Computer Science, A+ certified • Linux – Redhat (Fedora 9 & 10), Centos 4.x & 5.x, Gentoo, Slackware, Ubuntu, FreeBSD, MySQL 5.0, LDAP, Bind (DNS), Apache, X Windows, VNC, OpenSSL, OpenVPN, PGP (GPG) • VMWare - ESX (2.x - 3.5), Virtual Center, VMotion, DRS, HA, virtual machine deployment by imaging and host deployment via UDA (ultimate deployment appliance). • Microsoft – 2000/2003 server with emphasis on high availability clustering (active/active & active/passive), Active Directory, SQL Server 2005, DNS, IIS, terminal services, basic Exchange administration • Support of Unisys ES7000 series (currently work with 2 pods containing 6 cells each which have a single partition). • Scripting – VBS, Perl, PHP, bash • C++, C# ASP.NET 2.0, Java, basic SQL • Help Desk ticketing – HEAT, Request Tracker, Livetime • VoIP – Asterisk, Freeswitch, IAX, SIP, Polycom phones, Cisco 79x0 • \*Basic\* Peoplesoft – I can troubleshoot basic appdesigner and Nvision issues (usually a workstation or ODBC issue) EDUCATION Kennesaw State University Kennesaw, GA. April 2001 – December 2003 Computer Science Obtained degree - Bachelor of Science Computer Science University of Alabama School of Engineering Tuscaloosa, AL. August 1997 – December 1999 Electrical and Computer Engineering EMPLOYMENT HISTORY Senior Systems Engineer, Interactive Communications July 2007 - Present Atlanta, GA. • VMWare ESX host and virtual machine administration and deployment. • Architecture and deployment of Windows 2000, 2003, and 2008 systems. • Architecture and deployment of systems utilizing Linux (Solaris 10 x64 & x86 w/jumpstart, Fedora Core 9 & 10, Ubuntu, CentOS 5.x, and Gentoo). • Wrote various automation scripts mostly in VBScript, some in Perl and bash. A good number of others were one-liner sed and awk scripts. • Active Directory administration: moves, adds, changes, deletes, and password resets. Current environment consists of about 500 users. • Build and maintain other server platforms (Sun X4600M2, Dell 6850s, 2950s, 2970s) for projects that can not live in a virtual environment. • Performance monitoring via Windows Perfmon, Nagios, and Cacti Integration Engineer, Itaki Networks October 2004 – Present (Consultancy) Atlanta, GA. • Consultation of voice, data, and video network convergence. • Installations of IP PBX phone systems based off of Asterisk (linux open source). • Ongoing maintenance of the installed PBX – a combination of web GUI and linux command-line administration. • Coordinate installs of T1 (voice and data), ISDN BRI, and analog circuits from desired telecom carrier. Network Specialist, Randstad North America December 2006 – July 2007 Atlanta, GA. • 3rd shift duties: Monitor the scheduled reboots of the servers located in the NOC. Perform maintenance/repair on servers as necessary (hard drive replacement, or dispatch technician). • Respond to help desk tickets (HEAT) • Co-developed an in-house C#/ASP web application that combined the Exchange Global Address Lists of other Randstad offices internationally. The application exported these contacts via XML and then uploaded to a MSSQL database. To update the contacts the application performed the steps in reverse. Each office submits their contacts as well as retrieves contacts from other locations. • Wrote several VBS scripts to perform automated maintenance and notify me of status changes on the network. • Active Directory 2003 maintenance of the entire US and UK domain (several thousand objects combined). This normally comes in the form of password resets and account creation/deletion requests from the UK. • Monitor Control-M processes used within the Peoplesoft environment. This also includes servers used for disaster recovery. • Linux administration – VMWare ESX is a product based off of Redhat so administrative duties were necessary on those 83 host machines. Perl and VBS (on the windows end) scripting was used for automation of virtual machine rollout • Extensive use of VMWare Virtual Center • Currently developing plan to migrate company to Virtual Infrastructure 3, VMWare’s next version of ESX server. • CedarCrestone is a Dell shop so I have extensive server hardware experience with 1650, 1750, 1850, 1855 (Blade servers), and 2650 lines. • Wrote a set of visual basic scripts that rapidly deploy new terminal servers or process schedulers when requested.
