I am I am a 3rd year engineering college student, with a strong passion for helping people and my community. I am in an extremely privileged position, and want to use my time and energy in an effective way during this lockdown, to help out in any way I can. I believe I have relevant communication skills and the desire to help my community. Recently, have made a Tamil comic illustration to educate children in Tanjore/Trichy about COVID-19, as a part of TEDxNITTrichy. Interested in doing more work to help people in a similar way, and to spread real news and knowledge. I also have an Instagram blog, on which I post relevant content about current affairs, after reading and research. I am interested in politics and current events, and enjoy writing. I also manage the social media of TEDxNITTrichy, for which I write content and make posters. Over the past couple years, I have gained an exponential interest in politics, art, design, and social issues, and these interests stem from wanting to create a strong positive impact in the lives of people who may not be able to fight for themselves. I am currently pursuing a degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, from National Institute of Technology, Trichy, but my interests are far more abundant than tech. I am currently also the Director of Speakers’ Curation at TEDxNITTrichy, a platform where big ideas and rich storytelling help unearth local, diverse voices and inspire and drive the community. I have thus curated the talks of several TEDx Speakers, in two languages, thus honing my written and verbal communication skills. Being committed to hosting a diverse and inclusive lineup of speakers at every event we cater to the interests of various demographics. I have directed and acted in plays, and earned a certification from Trinity College London, for Theatre and participated in Model UN Conferences, which has made me more conscientious, collaborative and proactive. I have also made it a point to do socially useful productive work, and give back to my community by organizing drives for flood victims, teaching English at schools I for underprivileged children, clubbed with community service at local centers. In addition to all this, I am also a member of my college basketball team, and devote much of my time and energy to the sport. Being a part of a sports team has helped me learn to manage several dissimilar work streams, teaching me to prioritize tasks and keep an optimistic attitude.
