Publishing Consultant (Freelance)

Publishing was a passion found while I was studying my Bachelor Degree at Goldsmith College, UOL. I was blessed to have started at a small publishing firm which exposed me to cover design, typesetting, (copy)editing, proofreading, indexing, and logistics. I then moved into a publishing team in an academic institute where I learnt photography and copywriting, and also received my Masters in Literary Studies. After 8 years of publishing, my love for it has not waned and I enjoy all types of publishing from fiction to non-fiction, which includes newsletters, organisation reports, academic articles and books, to name a few. Of course, I love reading.

I set the creative and editorial direction for 3 education magazines, initiated and led revamp of magazines to increase readership and improve profits, reviewed magazine articles from contributors and MCE editors, sourced for writers and editors for magazines and general materials, and conceptualised general materials for the Humanities portfolio. This again, however, made me an administrator and a people-negotiator rather than being involved in the actual publishing work.

I developed professional capacities in junior team members in various areas such as publishing, writing, documentation, collaboration and leadership. This role, however, was too much of an administrator role.
