Journalist/Storyteller needed for 'Improving competitive video gamers' youtube channel.

We are looking for a freelance journalist to help do thorough research and tell engaging stories that we can use as a script for our Youtube channel. To test the waters we will be doing some one-off pieces to get a feel for personality, brand fit and writing style. If it works out we will be looking to hire you on a monthly basis for 2 stories per week. **Skills that are required:** - Journalism/storytelling - Finding and referencing scientific papers to back up claims - Clear writing ### Content Guidelines The persona we are targeting and the values of our brand. (How) We do this by helping competitive gamers perform their best and win more often. (What) We offer science-backed content and products that are good for you. **Brand tagline:** Player performance via science and wellness. **Content Goal:** To educate competitive gamers and help them perform better when they game. **We have 3 topic categories (pillars) we like to follow.** 1. Health advice (things that create more wellness in gamers lives like, exercise, diet and habits) 2. Science Explained (the science behind why things are the way they are) 3. Pro Tips (Practical tips from good players and esports professionals) We categorise all our content under 1 of these 3 pillars. At all times we are trying to back up our claims with research from Google Scholar and research articles. (we present these articles on the youtube video, highlighting the findings that are relevant) ^^ Very important ^^ Our video style is aiming to be like this but tailored towards competitive gamers. ([login to view URL]) The content itself is serious and educational but we like to add in comedic/entertaining tone throughout the content to lighten it up. We generally will film funny 'B-roll' shots to visually portray some of the things in the script. **Writing perspective:** We write mostly in the 2nd person but we like to use the 1st person to share personal experiences from the host of the youtube channel and the 3rd person to share what scientific research has found. **We write around problems like:** Why you always feel tired when gaming and how to get more energy. (science explained) Why you struggle to win - 5 tips on how to be a better PC player. (pro tips) Why you can't stop playing video games - 3 tips to help with gaming addiction. The main reason for looking for a journalist is to convey this information better than I can... To make it more engaging through storytelling and better research. ### Workflow Word range 750 - 1000. Draft due 4 days. Final draft due 7 days. 2 revisions - one for the draft and another for the final draft. Budget = no more than $200 AUD per piece. Title/keywords will be provided, topic and category will be provided. We will be adding our own personal experience to your work (because we are competitive gamers) to make it more relatable. If you can write in some first-person relatable experiences that's great, but if you can't no worries. **Final Product:** A 'script ready' version that's been edited and simplified. All cited research articles referenced and linked. A summarised version for our blog (snippets from the script with bullet points - no longer than 250 words)
