We supply alcohol interlocks to governing body contracts across Australia and require diagnostic plugs to test our installed wiring harnesses in the vehicle (150 in total). The device can be designed here and we can arrange for it to be made overseas or can be made local if price is competitive. The harness uses a parallel printer cable which plugs into the coresponding socket on our device. the goal is to have a small diagnostic box with LED lamps to indicate power connection. Ideally the diagnostic connector could be placed inline with our device and cable and have the additional function of only being used to identify faults within the wiring or cable. Hi I have made similar project of diagnostic unit for operator presence detection switch used in European tractor seat. The function of this unit is to detect any faults in the wire harness between operator presence detection switch and tractor ECU. The unit will be connected using connectors of TE Connectivity make. 2 Resistors were used in the unit ,One with higher resistor and other with lower resistor , Concept of current always flows through the lower resistance path was used. For normal function the current flows through the lower resistor path and if any fault occurs in the normal path the current flows through the higher resistance path as normal path resistance becomes infinity due to fault in the wire. In your unit we can place an LED in serial connection with the resistors which can indicate the fault. All these components can be placed in the enclosure designed to IP65 rating so that no dust and water can pass through the unit. Please contact me for further details and discussion on this project.
