My key point up front is this kind of project cannot be rushed. Experience has shown me that even with full assets delivered, things change, develop, and need time to make important decisions. I think c.14 days [max.] should be set aside for a professional and satisfying product. First, a consultation with the client - develop a brief and/or direction for the book. Once agreed I will provide two directions based on the brief, outlining pros and cons for each and the associated costs. With a direction agreed and am in receipt of the book assets I will deliver a full draft in c.3 days. After client feedback there will be another c.4 days of iteration to fine-tune the detail. I am assuming the assets will be edited and proofed, but there will be a need for reproofing after completion. Those this may not be required / desired by the client, from experience I would recommend up to another c.7 days for this, with a number of trusted people to proof - extra time well spent to catch edits and updates, as well as grammar and typos. I can also manage the publication process as well [I did this recently with a book published by my company two months ago. This process can happen in parallel with the design process.
