Please set up your design program for CMYK color mode, as documents created in RGB (screen color) may cause colors to shift when printed. Example: Blues will often print looking purple. Images downloaded from a website, unless from a dedicated marketing library, are almost always in RGB color and low resolution. Instructions for changing to CMYK color: In Microsoft Publisher you can find this option under Tool >Commercial Printing Tools>Color Printing and select the Process CMYK radio button. In Photoshop the option is under Image >Color Mode and select CMYK In other Programs the information is most often found in the tools or image editing menus • How do I know if my images are high resolution? - collapse We advise that all images/graphics within your print file be a minimum of 300 dpi at the size at which they are to be printed. When using photos, logos, and any other graphics in your designs, low resolution images that look great on your monitor may not look that way when printed. Images downloaded or copied from the web, are almost always going to be low resolution. When reviewing your PDF digital proof, we recommend zooming the PDF to 200%. If any part of the design looks fuzzy or pixilated, it is low resolution. Image resolution can be checked in an image editing program, it can usually be found in the image size menu. Example: 72x72 would be 72dpi, 300x300 would be 300dpi. If your image editor does not provide the dpi or resolution statistic using the largest file size can mean the resolution is higher. • Do I have to embed fonts in my design?- collapse If your design program has a setting to embed fonts, make sure it is turned on to avoid unwanted font substitutions. If you are creating your own PDF, check the output settings to make sure you have selected the option to embed all fonts. Instructions for embedding fonts: In Microsoft Publisher go to Tools > Commercial Printing Tools > Fonts and then check the box "Embed True Type Fonts When Saving Publication" and uncheck the remaining two boxes.
